FAQ

How does it work?

It’s a really easy process!
Step 1 – Fill out on “Tutor Request Form”
Step 2 – Our Team will make contact with you within 24 hours via your phone number
Step 3 – We take the time to learn everything there is to know about your situation over the phone and then get to finding you the perfect tutor!

How do I organise a lesson with my tutor?

One of the great parts about working with us is that we don’t middleman in the relationship between you and your tutor. Once we’ve presented a tutor to you that you’re happy with, we’ll pass on your details to them, and they will reach out ASAP. You and the tutor then take care of organising the first session and so forth.

What subject areas do you offer?

At T.M.J. Tutoring, we’re proud to cover a large variety of subjects and year levels. We cover;

– 40+ Subjects in the VCE System (Year 11 and 12)
– The International Baccalaureate (IB) for students in Year 11 and 12
– All subjects across a Year 7-10 and Primary Level

If you have a specific request, maybe for University-level tutoring for example, don’t stop that from getting in contact with us. We’re always happy to see what we can do.

Is the tutoring conducted in-person or online?

The location of the tutoring is dependent on you and what you as a parent and/or student prefer. Our tutors are flexible and can work online or in-person depending on your requirements.

We do though pride ourselves on being one of Melbourne’s leading tutoring companies in maintaining a strong push for in-person tutoring, assisting in over 60 Suburbs so far.

How much will tuition cost?

The cost of tuition varies amongst year levels and method of delivery.
– For VCE + IB students, we charge $85 per hour (In Person) and $75 per hour (Online)
– For Years 7-10 is $75 per hour (In Person) and $65 per hour (Online)
– For Primary Years is $65 per hour (In Person) and $55 per hour (Online).

We also provide group sessions for those with two or more students needing tuition.

Do all our tutors have a Working with Children’s Check?

Yes, safety is our priority at TMJ. All of our tutors have a valid Working with Children’s Check

What if my child doesn’t make any progress or doesn’t connect with the tutor you have provided?

We wholeheartedly believe that all our tutors deliver the utmost academic support and mentorship. However, if you find that your child is not making adequate progress, or is not connecting with the tutor we have allocated, we will happily initiate conversations around what is and is not working, or allocate a new tutor as required. Please do not hesitate to get in touch if you or your child find yourselves in this position.

Can I cancel a lesson?

You certainly have the flexibility to re-arrange tutoring sessions with your tutor. We do, however, have a cancellation policy, but we assess these situations on a case-by-case basis. We strive to support both tutors and parents in finding the best outcome. You can read more about our policy in the Parent Terms and Conditions linked below.

Does it have to be weekly, or can I choose the frequency? What is the duration of a lesson?

The frequency and duration of sessions is entirely decided by you and your tutor. It can be weekly for one hour or fortnightly for an hour and a half. Entirely up to you and the tutor.
